A shoot from the Past

Lena has a friend who specializes in making period costumes. She made a period authentic costume for Lena - both over and undergarments! - and we arranged to undertake a shoot with this as teh centrepiece in the closest thing we could find to period matching - the original ranch house and grounds in Fish Creek Park.

The shoot was not without technical challenges - extremely strong wind, strong sunlight and an earring that just would not stay in place. Lena and her friend did an excellent job with the costume and period accessories.

The shoot ended with an unfortunate event. While shooting on the bridge over Fish Creek, the troublesome wind whipped the hat (complete with large hat pin) off Lena's head and deposited it in the middle of the creek. The creek was swollen as a result of a beaver dam and, despite many tries, we were unable to recover it. All that effort by her friend lost to a watery grave!
